Compliance Status
This website is partially compliant with the WCAG 2.1, Level AA accessibility requirements. The following content is currently not or only partially accessible:
Non-accessible Content in Detail
Technical Implementation / Source Code
The semantic structure of HTML and ARIA code is partially incomplete:
ARIA roles are sometimes missing, affecting screen reader communication.
IDs in HTML documents are not always unique or properly nested.
Repetitive content such as navigation areas (e.g., header/footer) cannot be skipped using jump links, making keyboard navigation difficult.
Interactive elements like the mega menu, sliders, or image boxes are not reliably reachable via the Tab key, restricting navigation for users without a mouse.
Design & Color Contrast
Adequate contrast between foreground and background is essential for accessibility. Problems include:
Insufficient contrast on several subpages, especially text over images or color combinations like beige/white or turquoise/beige.
Interactive elements such as buttons or links do not stand out visually from the background – often distinguishable only by color.
Important states (e.g., hover, focus, active/inactive) are not always clearly visually identifiable, which is problematic for users with color blindness.
Font sizes below 16px and insufficient line spacing hinder readability; many text sections fall below the recommended 150% line height.
• Layout issues occur at zoom levels between 110% and 200%, such as overlapping elements, misaligned menus, or illegible text.
Navigation & Keyboard Operation
Full keyboard operation of the website is not possible: Some elements (e.g., mega menu items, form fields, intro areas) cannot be accessed via the Tab key.
Tab order is not always logical – some areas are skipped or incorrectly focused.
Sticky menus behave inconsistently at higher zoom levels (125%+), making navigation harder.
While a logical focus order is generally present, it is not implemented consistently.
Multiple navigation aids are missing, such as search, sitemap, or table of contents.
Interactive Elements & Controls
Interactive controls (e.g., links, buttons):
Often lack a clearly visible focus state, impairing keyboard use.
Some clickable areas are smaller than the recommended 24×24 px, which is problematic for touch devices.
In some sections (e.g., room area), keyboard focus causes unintended changes to the display, which can be distracting.
Additional content that appears on hover (e.g., tooltips) sometimes disappears too quickly or is not accessible via keyboard.
Texts, Structure, and Language
Heading hierarchy (h1–h6) is inconsistent; some headings are missing or not properly marked semantically.
Button and form field labels are not always clear. Generic labels like “learn more” or “click here” are used repeatedly.
Sensory instructions like “click the red field” or “the large icon at the top right” can be problematic for users with visual impairments.
Foreign-language content or anglicisms are not always correctly marked with a lang attribute, causing issues with screen readers.
Forms
Accessibility issues in forms:
Form elements (e.g., name, email) lack persistent visible labels, which hinders screen reader use or autofill.
There is no clear visual highlight for focused fields – users cannot easily identify the active field.
Error messages are unclear or not linked to specific fields.
No suggested solutions are offered when errors occur (e.g., “Please enter a valid email address”).
Media (Images, Videos, PDFs)
Media-related accessibility gaps:
Not all images include ALT text – this applies also to graphical text (e.g., labels for “Apollo Stations”) embedded as images.
Linked PDF files are not accessible – they lack proper tagging, alternative texts, and logical reading order.
Videos with purely visual content (e.g., YouTube videos with music) lack descriptive alternatives or ARIA labels.
Creation of this Statement
This statement was created on July 29, 2025.
Accessibility was assessed through a self-evaluation based on WCAG 2.2, Level AA.
